A gourmet champagne with an ideal balance between sugar and acidity
The estate Founded in 1849, the Champagne Pol Roger House has perpetuated for 5 generations the excellence of its expertise and its perpetual quest for perfection. An essential reference beyond borders, Maison Pol Roger is the official supplier to the British Crown as well as to the finest starred restaurants.
Being among the last houses to still practice hand riddling of champagne bottles on its entire production, Pol Roger holds its singularity in its style expressing with authenticity the full potential of exceptional champagne terroirs.
The vineyard
Maison Pol Roger watches over an exceptional vineyard of 92 hectares of vines, including notably the finest parcels of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs, emblematic terroirs of Champagne.
The wine
Launched in 2001, the Rich cuvée comes from a rigorous selection of 30 champagne crus. 25% of reserve wines are used. Pinot noir, mainly from the Montagne de Reims, brings structure, body and power. Pinot meunier, from the Vallée de la Marne and Épernay, offers freshness, roundness and fruitiness. Chardonnay, from Épernay and the Côte des Blancs, adds aromatic complexity, finesse, elegance and lightness.
The dosage of this cuvée is 34g/l.
Vinification and aging
The grapes are gently pressed, then undergo two cold settling processes (6°C) for 24 hours. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at low temperature (18°C) in stainless steel tanks, where each grape variety and cru is vinified separately. Malolactic fermentation is carried out on all wines. After blending and bottling, the second fermentation and aging take place in the cellars at 33 meters depth. The bottles are riddled by hand before disgorgement and dosage, then rest for a minimum of three months before commercialization.
