Cotes du Rhone Wines

Côtes du Rhône is a regional appellation of the Rhone Valley, recognised in 1937 and covering an area of nearly 32,000 hectares. The appellation Côtes du Rhône is shared by 171 communes from the departments of Ardèche, Drôme, Gard, Loire, Rhône and Vaucluse. The vines, which enjoy a Mediterranean climate, are planted in soils consisting of stones, clay, pebbles, as well as loess and sandy soils. The Côtes du Rhône appellation produces both fruity, well-rounded and structured red wines (Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah), as well as fresh and aromatic whites (Bourboulenc, Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier), and fine, fruity rosés (Cinsault, Grenache).
