Description

A Tuscan wine that combines smoothness with elegance

The estate

The Antinori family has been producing wine for six centuries. Indeed, Antinori - Villa Antinori stems from an idea, a way of viewing winemaking: combining experimentation and evolution with tradition. Villa Antinori has always remained true to the rules of the art, by being in line with tradition and treating the land with the utmost respect, in order to offer wines that are both elegant and fine, while maintaining an original character.

The vineyard

Villa Antinori refers to the place occupied by the Antinori family near Florence in the castle of Combiate where the agricultural activities are carried out and where these great Italian wines are made.

The wine

Villa Antinori is a Tuscan wine first produced in 1928, brought about by Niccolò Antinori, Piero Antinori's father. This exceptional wine pays tribute to the history of this illustrious Italian family.

The vintage

Although the cool winter delayed budburst, the mildness and regular rainfall during the spring advanced rapid development of the vines. The summer was hot, with rainy spells. September was hot and dry. Despite low yields, the grapes harvested were of high quality.

Winemaking and ageing

The harvested grapes were de-stemmed, gently crushed and then transferred to temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Alcoholic fermentation took place over a period of 5 to 7 days while maceration on the skins lasted 8 to 12 days. Malolactic fermentation was completed at the end of the year for all varieties and the wine was then transferred to French, Hungarian and American oak barrels.
