Gianni Brunelli Wines : Key Points

In 1987, owner of the famous Osteria Le Logge restaurant in Siena, Gianni Brunelli fulfilled his family's dream by purchasing "Le Chiuse di Sotto", his father's former estate located in the north-east of Montalcino, which comprises 2 hectares of vineyards and 2.5 hectares of olive groves. Aiming to produce fine Brunello di Montalcino wines, Gianni Brunelli and his wife Laura bought the Podernovone estate in 1997, a 4.5-hectare vineyard in the south-east of Montalcino.

The vineyards of these two Tuscan estates, both situated between 200 and 350 metres above sea level. Resting on unique calcareous soils made up of marl and schist, the soil stores the heat during the day and releases it at night, allowing the grapes to reach optimum ripeness.

Following Gianni Brunelli’s passing in 2008, his wife took over the running of the estate.

Stemming from a 6.5-hectare vineyard that is meticulously managed in an organic manner, the wines produced at the Gianni Brunelli estate showcase the elegant and balanced expression of the nuances of the Sangiovese grape variety and offer a promising and great ageing potential.
