Il Marroneto Wines : Key Points

The name Il Marroneto refers to an ancient 13th-century tower once used to store chestnuts for flour production.

Founded in 1974 by Giuseppe Mori, soon joined by his son Alessandro, this Tuscan estate, one of the oldest in the Brunello di Montalcino appellation, released its first vintage in 1980.

Ideally situated between 350 and 400 metres above sea level on the northern slopes of Montalcino, this vineyard has been progressively planted since 1975 on soils rich in nutrients and calcium, producing wines praised by the greatest connoisseurs for their aromatic richness and extreme finesse.

With a surface area of 6 hectares, the vineyard is managed with the greatest respect for the terroir, using no chemical inputs and limiting human intervention and yields. The Sangiovese grapes, which are well rooted, express themselves ideally here, producing elegant, well-structured, intense wines with an exquisite range of aromas.

The purest expression of this great Tuscan terroir, recognised as one of the world's finest wines, Il Marroneto is one of only five Italian wines to have been awarded the 100/100 rating by the famous critic Robert Parker.
