The estate

People and human activity are at the heart of this wine estate and Eugenio is the man behind the project. It was thanks to his commitment and passion that Le Macchiole came into being. His untimely death did not put an end to his dream as his wife Cinzia, with the help of oenologist Luca D'Attoma, decided to continue the venture. After years of hard work and achievement, the wines are now unanimously acclaimed by critics. The work of this estate takes place mainly in the vineyard. The philosophy here is respect for the natural cycles of life. This respect is also reflected in the vinification of these great Italian wines.

The vineyard

This Bolgheri Rosso 2021 from Domaine Le Macchiole is a Bolgheri wine, with vineyards placed at altitude on a terroir overlooking the sea. The vines grow on soils composed of limestone, white clay and marl.

The vintage

A wet winter that was warmer than average preceded a month of April in which optimal weather conditions advanced rapid growth in the vineyards. Despite a slight delay in flowering, the mild summer ensured that the grapes ripened well. Harvesting began in the third week of August.

Winemaking and ageing

Fermentation and maceration in steel vats for 15 days. The wine was agedfor 10 months, 70% in 3- and 4-wine oak barrels and 30% in concrete vats.

Blend

Bolgheri Rosso 2021 from Domaine Le Macchiole is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
