Description

The aromatic expression of a sophisticated Saint-Emilion red wine

The estate

A Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, Château Roylland is named after "La Lande du Roy". This estate, established in Eleanor of Aquitaine’s time, is situated near to some of the finest Grands Crus in the Saint-Emilion appellation.

The vineyard

The vineyard of this Saint-Émilion Grand Cru is managed in a sustainable manner and spreads over 5 hectares of vines, in a terroir made up of clay and sandy-clay soils. The vines are 15 years old on average.

The vinification and ageing

Hand-picked in crates. Sorting on the vine, before vatting. Vinification in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Gentle extraction with light pumping over in order to respect the fruity aromas and to obtain fine, soft tannins. Vatting between 21 to 28 days. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 40% of which are new.

The blend

This Château Roylland 2014 comprises a blend of Merlot (83%) and Cabernet Franc (17%).
