Description
Supple and silky, an intense great red wine from Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion
The producer
Château de Puisseguin's former outbuilding, Château La Vaisinerie was built in two stages. The main building was built in 1685, while the farm buildings were built in 1718. Owned by the Bessede family from 2004 to 2019 and following its acquisition by Alain Moses, broker and founder of the TWINS company, Château La Vaisinerie is entering a new era in its history.
The vineyard
Located in the so-called "satellite" appellation of Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion, 9 kilometres from the medieval town of Saint-Émilion, Château La Vaisinerie watches over a beautiful 13-hectare vineyard. The vines are planted on clay-limestone soil, similar to Saint-Émilion. The vines are 35 years old on average, comprising predominantly Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc (9%). A haven of greenery, Château La Vaisinerie is a veritable eden with regards to biodiversity. The vines are cultivated with a constant view to protecting the environment.
The vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand and are rigorously sorted. Vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled concrete tanks. Aged for 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels.
The blend
Merlot (100%).
