The vines are planted on a terroir composed of clay and limestone. Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion producers - who make only red wines - grow a majority of Merlot, along with Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. The wines of Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion are generally powerful and exhibit a wonderful tannic structure.
