Description

The balance and richness of a Piedmont white wine

The estate

It was in the 1960s that Bruno and Marcello Ceretto took over the management of the eponymous estate founded in 1930 by their father, Riccardo, in Alba in Piedmont. Following a trip to Burgundy, the two brothers wanted to rapidly develop the estate and produce 'crus' from this exceptional Italian terroir.

Bruno and Marcello Ceretto began a meticulous selection of the best vineyards for great Italian red wines, in Barolo and Barbaresco, to produce top-quality Langhe wines.

Respect for tradition and the terroir, combined with an eye for innovation, are the key words in the family estate's philosophy. Between 1969 and 1982, four wineries were created and production was extended to include Moscato and a white wine.

Since the 1990s, Bruno and Marcello Ceretto's children have joined the estate, carrying on the tradition of this 160-hectare estate spread over 4 cellars and producing 17 different wines.

The wine

I Vignaioli di S. Stefano is a Moscato d'Asti wine with a unique history.

In 1976 the Ceretto and Scavinos families, two of Piedmont's leading wine producers, decided to combine their expertise by founding the I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano winery. Their shared ambition was to restore Moscato Bianco to its former glory, a grape variety which, despite its great potential for quality, had been criticised until then for being grown too excessively.

I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano oversees a 30-hectare vineyard in the municipalities of Santo Stefano Belbo, Canelli and Calosso. The grapes are vinified and aged at the San Maurizio estate in the municipality of Santo Stefano Belbo.

To illustrate the modern, innovative character of this cuvée, the bottle design was created by Italian designer Giacomo Bersanetti.

Winemaking and ageing

Fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Low intervention vinification to preserve the aromatic purity of the grapes.
