Description

The richness and elegance of a Barolo wine

The estate

Prunotto is an Italian estate with a cultural, historical and traditional winemaking tradition. The wines produced have the typical scents of the grapes grown in its surrounding hills. The various vineyards of the Antinori - Prunotto estate are located in the best agricultural areas of Piedmont. The estate uses all the modern technology necessary to produce high quality Piedmont wines.

The vineyard

The 50 hectares of the estate are located in Alba, at an equal distance from Barbaresco and Barolo. This iconic name among Piedmont wines is set on a beautiful, smooth and colourful plain in the Langhe and Roero region.

The wine

Produced since 1961, Bussia d'Antinori - Prunotto takes its name from the village of the same name, where the vineyards face south/southwest in an exceptional natural amphitheatre.

The vintage

A mild winter made way for the warm and wet conditions of spring, which advanced a fast growth development. The end of April was recorded as having a sharp drop in temperature as well as frosts which impacted some vineyards. The summer was hot and dry, with rains which restored the vineyard. The month of September was cool, with significant temperature variations between day and night. Despite smaller yields, the harvested grapes were of a very good quality.

Winemaking and ageing

The selected grapes were destemmed and crushed. Maceration lasted approximately 8-10 days at a maximum temperature of 30°C. Aged for 18 months in oak barrels of different capacities.
