Wine Spectator

Alison Napjus

A very good, solid rosé Champagne that's well balanced and tangy in texture, with light cherry and citrus flavors that linger on the finish. Drink now.

What a gorgeous copper-salmon color, and fine, fierce bubbles. The aroma has incredible finesse, showing toast, toffee, bread, strawberry, lime, and smoke notes. Tastes smooth and silky fine, with a brilliant mouthfeel, very dry, with delicate strawberry fruit. A remarkably beautiful wine that finishes slightly bitter, with some tannins.

Decanter

Vanilla, sweet strawberry tart, dried red fruits, orange peel, quince and toasted nuts. Sourdough palate with a savoury, supple mousse.

Shows a linear line of crisp acidity and vivid fruit of dried strawberries and orange peel. Full-bodied, tight and focused with a bright finish. Fruity yet vivid. Commanding. Drink now.

Pale salmon-pink color. Sweet aromas of strawberry and earth. Frothy and ripe, with accessible flavors of strawberry, raspberry and earth. A bit aggressive but not heavy or crude. Quite similar in style and quality to last year’s bottle.

Falstaff

Falstaff

Medium-bright salmon pink with silver reflections and a fine, persistent mousse. Red-berry bouquet with nuances of cassis and liquorice, with some candied mandarin zest and herbal savouriness in the background. The palate is complex, almost opulent, with a ripe, sweet fruit core of preserved cherries and strawberries. The taut minerality provides precision and very good length. (PM).

The NV Champagne La Cuvée Brut Rosé is entirely Pinot Noir from 10 crus in the Montagne de Reims. It is forward in the glass with ripe currants, fresh herbs, and smoky perfume. This continues to the palate, with notes of ripe wild raspberry and tangerine, and it has a medium- to full-bodied texture that is pure and lightly savory on the finish. Fantastically paired with beef tartar and other richer raw preparations, this is a wonderful and food-friendly expression. Drink 2022-2032.

The Wine Independent

Sarah Mayo

Cuvée Rosé NV is a 100% Pinot Noir saignée rosé that achieves its salmon-pink color from a 48–72 hour maceration prior to crushing and fermenting as a rosé wine. The resulting wine boasts savory red-fruit aromas, a medium-bodied, creamy palate with ripe black-fruit concentration, soft acidity with a touch of chalk dust and a slight tannic grip on the finish, along with a hint of bitterness.

La RVF

A beautiful, intensely rosé colour; the nose opens on a basket of red fruits with a few floral nuances. The whole is charming for its fruit. The juice is nice and fleshy with decent substance, overall coherent without reaching great complexity.

The NV Brut Cuvée Rosé is a fairly anonymous Champagne with a soft, pleasing personality. The wine is best enjoyed sooner rather than later. This is lot # L23PX103248. Disgorged April 2011. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2015. Importer: Laurent-Perrier U.S., Sausalito, CA; tel. (415) 332-0500

Description

The intense freshness of an exceptional rosé champagne

The estate

Founded in 1812, the Champagne Laurent-Perrier House entered its golden age from 1948 onwards, thanks to the drive of Bernard de Nonancourt. Under the impetus of this visionary businessman, the house distinguished itself by crafting cuvées that reflect its values of excellence and innovation.

From its very beginnings, the house has built its identity around Chardonnay. Through the freshness and finesse it brings to the blend, this grape variety defines the style of this benchmark of Champagne.

Maison Laurent-Perrier expresses its avant-garde spirit notably through Grand Siècle and its multi-vintage blends, its Ultra Brut in a "zero dosage" style, and Cuvée Rosé, the first maceration rosé champagne in its category. These so-called "ground-breaking" cuvées, each creation of which is an event, mark with their originality a new chapter in the history of Maison Laurent-Perrier and its quest for excellence, which has earned its international renown.

The values so dear to Bernard de Nonancourt find their quintessence in the Laurent-Perrier cuvées, unanimously recognised by connoisseurs.

The vineyard

Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé is made exclusively from Pinot Noir sourced from the finest Crus of the Montagne de Reims, the emblematic terroir of Champagne.

The wine

A symbol of the boldness of a family-spirited champagne house led with passion, and a pioneer of the maceration rosé champagne category, the prestigious Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé was born at the dawn of the 1968 vintage. Since then, this Rosé champagne has established itself as a benchmark among the greatest rosés produced in Champagne.

Winemaking and ageing

This bottle is the result of a highly technical production method: maceration. Once harvested, the grapes are destemmed and then placed in a maceration tank. In this tank, the juice macerates with the grape skins for 48 to 72 hours in order to draw out the aromatic expression of the finest Pinot Noir crus. The juice is then run off (separated from the skins), fermented and vinified in a separate vat. Cuvée Rosé benefits from 5 years of ageing in the cellars.

Grape variety

Pinot Noir (100%).
