Before being a tequila, Volcan de mi Tierra is a geological story. Born in 2017 from the alliance between the Gallardo family, rooted for three centuries in Jalisco, and Moët Hennessy's pursuit of excellence, this confidential house has been producing exceptional blended tequilas from a single distillery at the foot of a volcano.
Four expressions to tell the story of the volcano
Blanco: the signature of two terroirs
A blend of the finest agaves from the Valles (lowlands) and the Altos (highlands) of Jalisco, the Blanco by Volcan de mi Tierra reveals the purity of its native terroir. The herbaceous and spicy notes characteristic of the lowland agaves blend with the fruity and floral aromas of the highlands, resulting in a perfectly balanced bottling. Citrusy, spicy and lightly peppery: an ideal introduction to the house's philosophy, poised between complexity and purity.
Reposado: wood as an enhancer
Crafted exclusively from blue agave grown in the highlands of Jalisco, the Reposado illustrates what time in cask can achieve in service of an exceptional terroir. The blend of two tequilas aged separately, one in new American oak casks, the other in new European oak casks, offers a rare balance between fruity generosity, floral freshness and a delicately vanilla-tinged finish. Golden, elegant, complex and generous, with a beautiful subtlety.
Añejo Cristalino: subtle power
The Añejo Cristalino is the most distinctive expression of Volcan de mi Tierra. This blend of añejo and extra-añejo, aged in American oak casks then filtered through activated charcoal to remove the colour without compromising the complexity, reveals a powerful personality: caramel, tobacco, dark chocolate, on a long and silky finish. An apparent contradiction that becomes, on the palate, perfectly self-evident.
X.A: the ultimate blend
The pinnacle of the range, the X.A is the most accomplished expression of the house's expertise. A blend of reposado, añejo and extra-añejo aged in American and European oak casks, it unfolds a remarkable aromatic complexity: cooked agave, vanilla, caramel, dried fruits and spices on the finish. Presented in a sculpted bottle of Mexican inspiration and delivered in a gift box, it is enjoyed neat or on the rocks to fully grasp its complexity.
At the foot of the volcano, an extraordinary house
Centuries-old expertise
The Gallardo family has been cultivating agave and producing tequila in the Jalisco region for more than three centuries. In 2014, a conversation between Juan Gallardo and the Moët Hennessy teams, during a Franco-Mexican conference in Paris, laid the foundations of an alliance formalised in 2017. The house is today led by master tequilero Tomas Perez, whose own family has been working with agave for three generations.
A volcanic soil tailor-made for blue agave
The eruption of the Tequila Volcano, 200,000 years ago, covered the plains of Jalisco with a soil rich in iron and basalt, ideal for the slow maturation of blue agave. Volcan de mi Tierra draws on two complementary terroirs: the Valles, source of mineral, herbaceous and spicy notes, and the Altos, which yield more fruity and floral aromas. These terroirs embody the signature of the house.
From artisanal cooking to the creation of exceptional bottles
Everything takes place within a single distillery established on the Gallardo family's lands at the foot of the volcano. The agaves from the Valles are cooked in a traditional masonry oven and fermented in wooden vats; those from the Altos go through an autoclave and stainless steel vats, two distinct processes to reveal the singularity of each terroir. From the harvest of the piñas to bottling, with no additives, Volcan de mi Tierra masters every step of its production process.
