This year, the prestigious Krug Champagne House will celebrate this age-old savoir-faire of treating each plot and base wine born from it as a unique ingredient, by inviting 11 "Krug Embassy" Chefs to highlight a single ingredient in the realm of fine cuisine. This year, the pepper has been chosen as that star ingredient, and the talented Chefs are already busy creating exceptional dishes to pair with the 167th Edition and Krug Rosé 22nd Edition Champagnes.
"Our philosophy involves selecting fruit from individual plots, each of which contributes something unique to the end product. Some of these plots are smaller than a garden. When blending our wines, each and every decision takes into account the distinctive essence of each plot".
Every year, we start from scratch in creating the multitude of facets that give Krug Grande Cuvée its unique character.
Every glass of Krug Grande Cuvée 167th Edition is a product of 24 years' patience and savoir-faire.It is comprised of a blend of 191 wines from 13 different years, the oldest dating from 1995 and the youngest from 2011.
Its fullness and elegance can be appreciated with everything from simple dishes like Jabugo ham, to more sophisticated dishes, such as turbot with truffle.
Krug Rosé is by far the most unconventional of the Krug Champagnes in terms of its texture, colour and flavour. It is nothing like you expect.
Every bottle spends at least 7 years in the Krug cellars, growing in both intensity and elegance.
Its wide range of sophisticated notes stems from the selection of 22 wines, the youngest dating from 2010 and the oldest from 2005.
Combining poise, depth and richness of flavour, it is the perfect match for daring gastronomic innovation, successfully playing the role of a fine red wine on the table.
Eric Lebel and the chefs have channelled their energy into embracing the unconventional approach and uncompromising commitment of Krug founder Joseph Krug, who as early as 1843 dreamed of producing the most full-bodied Champagne each year, irrespective of climatic variations.
