Description

An aromatic and balanced Meursault white wine by Olivier Leflaive

The producer

Established in Puligny-Montrachet since 1635, the Leflaive family has perpetuated the tradition of great Burgundy wines by offering one of the finest expressions of Chardonnay in the world. At the head of an unmissable estate in Burgundy, Olivier Leflaive has established himself as an emblematic figure of the Côte de Beaune. Olivier Leflaive was born in 1945 when his family owned a vineyard spread over about 20 hectares. After taking over the reins of the family business of the Leflaive estate, Olivier Leflaive founded Olivier Leflaive Frères in 1985, his own winemaking and ageing company, marking the birth of an "haute-couture" Burgundy wine merchant.

The vineyard

Patiently built up, the estate's vineyard now covers 17 hectares of vines located on the greatest terroirs of Burgundy. The house also buys grapes from the best winegrowers in the Côte de Beaune. In total, Olivier Leflaive has 120 hectares of vines to produce great white wines in the beautiful appellations of Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault, as well as in Chablis and the Côte Chalonnaise.

The wine

The Meursault Village wine by Domaine Olivier Leflaive is made from a rigorous selection of 15 to 20 parcels that spread throughout the appellation. Located at an altitude of 250 to 300 metres, these vineyards are cultivated using sustainable methods and are planted on clay-limestone soils which give them an elegant and rich aromatic expression.

Vinification and ageing

The grapes are harvested by hand and delicately pressed with pneumatic presses before being vinified. The wine is aged for 12 months (including 4 months following the blending of the different batches) in barrels, 20% of which are new.

The blend

This Meursault Village 2019 by Domaine Olivier Leflaive is a 100% Chardonnay.
