Description

Jacquesson unveils its new vintage

The producer

Located in Dizy in the heart of the Marne Valley, the Jacquesson Champagne House, founded in 1798, was taken over by the Chiquet family in 1974.

Jean-Hervé and Laurent Chiquet, two passionate brothers, produce exceptional cuvées thanks to their parcel-based approach and their unique vinification and ageing philosophy, the brothers express the unique character and richness of their very large 28-hectare chalk terroirs.

With its individually numbered vintages that are renowned for their finesse, their aerial purity and their exceptional ageing potential, Jacquesson is poised among the elite of the finest names in Champagne.

The wine

Since 1999, the Jacquesson House has wished to advocate its independence through a cuvée that magnifies the ideal blend of what makes Champagne unique: its parcels, its grape varieties, its terroir and its people. The launch of Cuvée 728 marked the beginning of the Manifesto of Cuvées 700, each bottle of which bears the three numbers of its date of birth.

Jacquesson's Cuvée 744 is made from the 2016 harvest, 55% of which is from the terroirs of Aÿ, Dizy and Hautvilliers and 45% from Avize and Oiry. This Cuvée 744 has a 0.75 gr/litre dosage. Some reserve wines complete this cuvée.

The vintage

2016 was a year marked by significant rainfall during winter and spring. A drop in temperature from the end of February was combined with significant frosts at the end of April. The last days of spring were sunny but cool, giving way to a hot and very dry summer. The harvest was halted for a few days in order to encourage heterogeneous ripening throughout the vineyard. Harvested at optimum maturity and perfectly healthy, the grapes give rise to aromatic and dense wines.

The blend

Jacquesson's Cuvée 744 comprises a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir.
