Dom Pérignon Vintage 2009: a Champagne with a pefectly contained power

Dom Pérignon Vintage 2009 is a vintage Champagne wine from the mythical Maison Dom Pérignon. This cuvée contains a secret blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Despite a difficult climate at the beginning of the season, the Dom Pérignon Vintage 2009 enjoyed a perfect August and warm, dry weather (except for some hail on September 4th) up until the harvest, which began on September 12th.

The Dom Pérignon Vintage 2009 develops on the nose fragrances of guava and the zest of green spicy grapefruit, along with notes of stone fruit, white peach and nectarine. After stirring slightly, the wine reveals touches of woody vanilla and warm, lightly toasted brioche. On the palate, the wine is fruity, ripe, fleshy and of great depth. Rich and voluptuous, the Dom Pérignon Vintage 2009 is extremely consistent, with perfectly contained power. One may observe an array of sensations, with a silky, saline side, bitterness and even tasty iodised touches.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2009 Dom Pérignon is already drinking well, exhibiting expressive aromas of ripe apple, peach, Meyer lemon, marzipan and dried white flowers that are framed by the classic nutty, autolytic notes that so often define this cuvée. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with a broad attack, a brisk and refined mousse, appreciable dry extract and a notably saline finish. While this is a comparatively ample, gourmand vintage of Dom Pérignon, there's sufficient concentration and structural tension--which has become more apparent with a bit of bottle age--to suggest that this may be surprisingly long lived.
