Description
The brilliance and intense fruity expression of a Provence rosé
The estate
Founded in 1929 by André Chevillon and built on a pre-existing winery which has been cultivated since ancient times, Château Sainte-Marguerite spreads over the terroir of La Londe-Les-Maures, a village on the Var coast. In 1955, the estate obtained the Cru Classé de Provence title, which highlights the authenticity, diversity and quality of its wines. In 1977, Brigitte and Jean-Pierre Fayard purchased the estate, whose then 11-hectare vineyard gave birth to fine Côtes de Provence wines as well as wines from the Côtes de Provence La Londe appellation, renowned for their fine expression and high quality.
The vineyard
Facing the Mediterranean, Château Sainte Marguerite's vineyard spreads over 168 hectares. The soil combines mineral and clay-limestone elements. The ideal Mediterranean climate is tempered by sea spray which allows the organically-grown vines to flourish.
The vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness and undergo a cold skin maceration before being pressed. Following a temperature-controlled vinification, the wine is aged on its fine lees in vats.
