The origins of Chateau du Cedre span through two generations of farmers originally from Flanders. In 1958, Charles and Marie-Therese Verhaeghe planted vines on their family’s property in Southwest France. Their first bottle of wine was made in 1973 and today brothers Jean Marc and Pascal lead the family business in Cahors.

Chateau du Cedre boasts 27 hectares of vineyards mostly consisting of Malbec grapes with a bit of Merlot and Tannat vines. While their vineyard has mostly red grapes varieties, the winery also has one hectare of Viognier and small plots of Semillon, Muscadelle and Sauvignon. Alluvial soils with limestone and bedrock combined with the surrounding woods create a great influence on the flavours of the wine. The Chateau du Cedre Marcel Malbec is structured and fruit forward with notes of juniper, eucalyptus and minerality showing a distinct sense of place.
