Description
A Tuscan wine with a seductive elegance and complexity
The estate
The Orma estate, whose name means "footprint" in Italian, was founded by Antonio Moretti, who also owns the Sicilian estate Tenuta Sette Ponti. Following extensive research to identify the best terroir, Antonio Moretti founded this estate in the province of Livorno, near Bolgheri, with the ambition of producing exceptional Tuscan wines that express the potential of these fine Italian vineyards with authenticity and excellence.
The vineyard
Orma is a Tuscan wine that stems from a 7.5-hectare vineyard, 5.5 of which are planted with vines. The vines face south-west and are 20 years old on average. They are planted on deep soils composed predominantly of pebbles, clay and little sand, ideal conditions in a warm climate.
The wine
Orma is the first wine produced by the estate. Produced since 2005, Orma has been recognised beyond the country’s borders for its quality, power and balance since its first vintage.
The vintage
A slightly rainy winter preceded a mild spring which favoured an early budding of the vines. The mild conditions that followed, punctuated by a few rainy spells, ensured optimal ripening of the grapes until the harvest.
Vinification and ageing
Fermentation at controlled temperature. Post-fermentation maceration with manual punching down for 18 days. Aged for 18 months in small barrels.
The blend
Merlot (50%)
Cabernet Sauvignon (30%)
Cabernet Franc (20%).
