Description
A delicate and aromatic Tuscan red wine
The estate
The Orma estate, whose name means "footprint" in Italian, was founded by Antonio Moretti, who also owns the Sicilian estate, Tenuta Sette Ponti. Following extensive research to identify the best terroir, Antonio Moretti founded this estate in the province of Livorno, near Bolgheri, with the ambition of producing exceptional Tuscan wines that express the potential, authenticity and excellence of these great Italian vineyards.
The vineyard
Orma reigns over a 7.5-hectare vineyard, of which 5.5 are planted with vines. Facing south-west, this terroir is planted on deep soils composed predominantly of pebbles, clay and little sand, ideal conditions in a warm climate. The vines are 20 years old on average.
The wine
Orma is the estate’s first wine. Produced since 2005, Orma has been recognised beyond Italy’s borders for its quality, power and balance since its first vintage.
Vinification and ageing
Fermentation at controlled temperature. Maceration for 18 days with manual punching of the cap. The wine is aged for 18 months in small oak barrels and then aged for a further year in the bottle before being sold.
The blend
Orma 2018 comprises a blend of Merlot (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) and Cabernet Franc (20%).
