Description
A fine and delicate Monthélie Premier cru
The estate
The Maison Louis Jadot, established in 1859, is a real benchmark in Burgundy. The family venture began with the acquisition of the famous Beaune Premier Cru Ursules vineyard in 1826.
The house then made its name through trade, which has today won it international acclaim, especially across the Atlantic. The Maison Louis Jadot sets out to carry on the idea of a Burgundy accessible to all lovers of quality wine across a wide range of products from regional appellations, Villages, Premiers Crus and Grand Crus.
Head of Maison Louis Jadot since 1992, Pierre-Henry Gagey entrusted his position to Thomas Seiter (Bouchard Père et Fils) and the role of General Manager to his son Thibault.
The vineyard
The Monthélie 1er Cru « Champs Fulliot » du Domaine Louis Jadot 2021 is a Monthélie wine from a vineyard that is more than 30 years old, located a few metres down the hill from Clos des Chênes de Volnay. It faces south-easst.
The vintage
2021 was a year marked by severe frost in April and unstable weather conditions in Burgundy. Despite a smaller harvest than usual, the quality shone through, with floral and balanced white wines as well as bright, full-bodied and aromatic red wines.
Winemaking and ageing
After the harvest, done manually, the grapes were sorted carefully by hand then destemmed. Maceration of the grapes took place in wooden and stainless steel vats over three to four weeks. Cap treading twice daily. Ageing over 18 months in casks (of which about a third were new).
Blend
This Monthélie Premier Cru « Champs Fulliot » du Domaine Louis Jadot 2021 is made from 100% pinot noir.
