Description
A precise and balanced Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru wine
The estate
Established since 1859, Maison Louis Jadot is a true benchmark in Burgundy. Its adventure began with the acquisition of a plot of land in 1826. Its trading activity led to its swift international recognition. Today and since 1992, the house is managed by Pierre-Henry Gagey and still ensures that Burgundy wines remain accessible to those who love high-quality wines.
At the head of Maison Louis Jadot since 1992, Pierre-Henry Gagey entrusted his position to Thomas Seiter (Bouchard Père et Fils) and role of General Manager to his son Thibault Gagey in September 2022.
The vineyard
The "Abbaye de Morgeot" Domaine Louis Jadot 2021 is a Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru wine made from a vineyard of around 0.5 hectares located in the south of the commune of Chassagne. The vines are planted on marl and clay soils.
The vintage
2021 is a year marked by severe frost at the beginning of April and unstable weather conditions throughout the year. Despite a below-average harvest, the quality is reflected through the floral and well-balanced white wines as well as vibrant, full and aromatic red wines.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand and gently pressed. Fermentation in barrels (1/3 new) from the estate's cooperage. Aged for about 15 months on fine lees.
The blend
Chardonnay (100%).
