Colour

Palate
Both opulent and elegant, the attack reveals a full, velvety texture. The tannins, perfectly integrated and delicate, accompany a persistent finish, dry yet remarkably soft in texture.

Food and Wine Pairing
This wine pairs wonderfully with slow-cooked meats such as braised beef or wild boar stew. It will also beautifully complement a fine cut of beef, such as a traditional Florentine steak, as well as mature cheeses.

The Elegance and Opulence of a Great Red Wine from Tuscany

The Estate
Located in the heart of Tuscany, between Florence and Arezzo, the modern winery of Il Borro was established in 1993 when it was acquired by Ferruccio Ferragamo, its current owner. Set around a thousand-year-old medieval hamlet, this Italian estate spans 700 hectares, the majority of which is forest, fostering biodiversity. Certified organic since 2015, the estate stands out for its circular economy approach. Family-run, Il Borro has established itself as a genuine global luxury brand, combining high-end hospitality with the production of world-renowned wines.

The Vineyard
The vines used to produce this great IGT Toscana wine flourish in a pristine environment, farmed entirely organically. The plots have undergone a thorough geological study to plant each grape variety on the most suitable soil. The vineyard follows a virtuous approach based on the circular economy, in which natural resources are harnessed to nourish the soils and maintain a perfect balance between the vines and the surrounding nature.

The Vintage
2022 in Tuscany stood out for its hot, dry climate. Although significant rainfall occurred during August and September, it did not disrupt the smooth progress of the harvest. These weather conditions mainly led to lower yields, while allowing the wines to develop a highly expressive character and remarkable aromatic intensity.

Winemaking and Ageing
Following a hand-harvest in small 10 kg crates, vinification begins with fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Ageing lasts a total of 24 months: the Merlot rests in 20-hectolitre French oak foudres, while the Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah age in first- and second-fill French oak barrels. The process concludes with six months of refinement in stainless steel tanks.

Grape Varieties
This blend is composed of 50% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah.
