Description
A refined Vougeot white wine by Domaine de la Vougeraie
The estate
Created in 1999, the ambition of the Domaine de la Vougeraie estate was to combine all the Premiers Crus, Grands Crus and Monopoles gradually acquired by the Boisset family since 1964, a family of wine merchants. Domaine de la Vougeraie is committed to a viticulture that pays attention to the vineyard's rhythm and thus produces wines that are described as prestigious Burgundian wines due to their precision, purity, elegance and aromatic richness. Domaine de la Vougeraie watches over 34 hectares of vines which are split into 67 plots.
The vineyard
The Vougeot Village "Clos du Prieuré Blanc" Monopole 2018 by Domaine de la Vougeraie refers to the priory that was owned by the Benedictine monks of the Parisian Saint-Germain-des-Prés abbey from the 11th century.
This wine is made from grapes from a 0.8258-hectare east-facing vineyard. Surrounded by high walls, this plot is rooted in a limestone soil that is rich in rounded pebbles and pure silts. Its uniqueness stems from its early development.
Vinification and ageing
Following the harvest, the grapes are pneumatically pressed in whole bunches, followed by settling. Fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks and ends in oak barrels. Aged for 18 months in oak barrels, then one month in stainless steel tanks. Light filtration before bottling.
The blend
Chardonnay (100%).
