Description
The elegance and freshness of a Burgundy white wine
The estate
Owned by the Beaumont family, Domaine de la Garenne joined forces with the Devillard family in 2008. Superbly located on a hilltop in the Mâcon-Azé, Mâcon Buissières and Pouilly-Fuissé appellations, the estate's 7 hectares face due south, ideal for a property entirely devoted to the region's king of grape varieties: Chardonnay. Thanks to the hard work of the estate's technical team and the constant monitoring by its in-house oenologist Robert Vernizeau, Domaine de la Garenne has rapidly risen to become one of the best producers in the region, and a true ambassador for the Mâconnais.
The vineyard
Benefiting from an optimal altitude and ideal exposure, the vines are rooted in clay-limestone soils which, combined with generous sunshine, create ideal conditions for the development of Chardonnay.
Winemaking and ageing
To ensure the best possible quality, the grapes are harvested by hand, then hand-sorted and completely destemmed. They are then carefully pressed in a pneumatic press, and the juice obtained is kept in a temperature-controlled vat for 24 to 30 hours. The alcoholic and malolactic fermentations of this Pouilly-Fuissé wine take place in casks before ageing in Burgundy barrels.
