Description
Delicious and complex, an aromatic IGP Alpilles rosé wine
The estate
With its origins dating back more than two thousand years, Château Romanin was consecutively a spiritual place for the Greeks, the Gauls and the Christians. Located at the entrance of the Les Baux-de-Provence appellation, Château Romanin has belonged to the Charmolüe family since 2006, who formerly owned the Second Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Estèphe, Château Montrose.
The vineyard
Situated on the northern slopes of the Alpilles mountain range, the 58 hectares of vines are planted on sandy limestone to sandy, clay and loam soil. The vineyard is run biodynamically and produces wines that are vinified and aged in an underground cellar covered with topsoil, which ensures the harmony between the cultivation of the vines and the work in the cellar.
The wine
This IGP Alpilles wine stems from vines that are planted on brown limestone soil of colluvial origin, the surface of which is made up of sand and pebbles.
Vinification and ageing
Hand-picked, the grapes are cooled in a cold room (10°C) for 24 hours. Following settling, alcoholic fermentation is carried out in stainless steel vats, as is the ageing period on fine lees for about 5 months with regular stirring.
The blend
Grenache (65%)
Mourvèdre (23%)
Cabernet Sauvignon (12%)
