An Expressive and Structured Grand Cru from Saint-Émilion

Château Faugères is known for wines that demonstrate a stylistic evolution focused on finesse. This trend was put in place at the property by Silvio Denz, a Swiss-German businessman passionate about wine and owner of several vineyards in the Bordeaux region.

A Grand Cru Classé Saint-Émilion, Château Faugères extends over a vineyard of 37 ha located on one of the most beautiful terroirs of the Right Bank, the famous limestone plateau of Saint-Emilion. In order to better respect the environment and to enhance the richness of the soil, the vineyard is cultivated according to a sustainable natural viticulture.

2017 was a vintage of many challenges and an early harvest. Fortunately, Château Faugères was one of the properties spared by frost. The quality of the fruit was preserved throughout the vegetative cycle.

The Château Faugères 2017 is consistent with the powerful identity of the estate’s wines, bearing the imprint of the flagship red grape of the area, Merlot (85% of the blend), completed by Cabernet Franc (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). The nose is already very expressive, focusing on the purity of the fruit, while the palate displays a superbly dense texture, with elegant and silky tannins. A wine of great quality, which will evolve remarkable with age.

An exceptional wine, the Château Faugères 2017 is the second vintage of the estate’s Grand Vin adorned with a Lalique "Calice" engraving.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Faugeres comes sashaying out of the glass with pretty kirsch, Black Forest cake and chocolate box scents followed by hints of rosehip tea, fallen leaves and cloves. Medium-bodied, the palate has a velvety texture and bags of perfumed fruit, finishing long and fragrant. The wine was aged in 50% new and 50% second fill French oak barrels for 15 months. The blend is 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
