Description
A silky and balanced Haut-Médoc red wine
The estate
Owned since 2005 by the Merlaut family, managed by Céline Villars Foubet and Jean-Pierre Foubet, Château de Camensac is an estate founded in the 18th century in the Haut-Médoc appellation. This 5th Grand Cru Classé of 1855 was the subject of significant investments, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, which enabled the estate to be equipped with the best equipment. Château de Camensac now stands out as an important Bordeaux reference, offering fantastic value for price.
The vineyard
An unmissable name in Haut-Médoc, the Château de Camensac vineyard comprises 25 hectares of vines. The vines are planted in two different types of soil: the Gunzian gravel found in Saint-Julien and the Graffernian gravel found in Pessac-Léognan. It is from these two types of soil that give the wines of Château de Camensac their unique character.
The vintage
The first months of the year were particularly dull and wet until the arrival of milder conditions in May. A warm and sunny June an even and good quality flowering. July was cool and cloudy, before a rainy August which made way for a radiant, even scorching Indian summer, with scattered hailstorms. The harvest was late and took place between 22 September and 17 October.
Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (50%)
Merlot (50%).
