Description
An elegant and complex wine from Fronsac
The estate
Overlooking the Isle Valley, a stone's throw from the town of Libourne, Château Dalem is a Fronsac estate located in the commune of Saillans. A property that has been active since 1610, this château has belonged for three centuries to the same family. In 1955, Michel Rullier was at the helm of Château Dalem until 2002, when his daughter Brigitte Rullier Loussert took over the running of the estate. Today, working alongside her son Charles, Brigitte Rullier Loussert continues to elevate the reputation of Château Dalem, which has benefited from the valuable advice of the wine consultant, Eric Boissenot, since the 2019 vintage.
The vineyard
22 hectares constitute the vineyard of Château Dalem. The vines were planted some 40 years ago on clay and limestone plateaus and hillsides.
The vintage
The 2019 vintage got off to a good start with the promise of an early harvest. However, the cool, rainy spring slowed the growing cycle before the hot, dry summer announced a magnificent vintage.
The winemaking and ageing
Manual harvest. Density sorting. Fermentation for 28 days. Malolactic fermentation. Ageing in new oak.
The blend
Merlot (90%), cabernet franc (10%).
The tasting
The Château Dalem 2019 is a complex, juicy and very elegant wine, product of the great work carried out in the winery to enhance the freshness of the fruit.
