Description
A fruity and fresh Vin de France sparkling rosé
The producer
In the 1950s, Robert Jean de Vogüe, the president of Moët & Chandon, was eager to produce top-of-the-range sparkling wines abroad under the CHANDON brand. From 1959 onwards, the CHANDON vineyards expanded well beyond the French borders (Argentina, California, Brazil, Australia, China, India), by working with winemakers who also wished to produce fresh, elegant sparkling wines with a unique character.
The wine
Produced as a Vin de France, Chant des Cigales by Chandon is a brut nature sparkling rosé wine, made with partner winegrowers located in the south of France. Certified as organic and vegan, this cuvée comprises a blend of 8 key grape varieties from the South of France, all stemming from wine growing areas located between Perpignan and Saint Tropez.
Vinification and ageing
Initially vinified using the press technique, no sugar is added to the juice once the foam has set. The dosage is 3 g/litre. This cuvée is aged for 3 months in vats followed by 2 months of bottle ageing before being released.
The blend
Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Rolle, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvèdre, Carignan and Tibouren.
Chant des Cigales by Chandon: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Nose
The nose exudes fragrances of summer fruits (peach, apricot).
Palate
The palate offers a refreshing salinity and blends enfolding fruity (red fruit, prickly pear), floral (rose, peony, white flowers) and liquorice aromas. The palate is seduced by this wine’s delicacy, its length, its fine effervescence and its silky feel.
Service
For an optimal tasting experience, serve at around 10°C, with or without ice cubes.
