Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru 2016 by Franck Bonville

Tasting

Nose
The nose opens with vibrant aromas of white-fleshed fruits. Buttery notes, which appear quickly, enrich the bouquet and give it beautiful complexity.

Palate
The attack is smooth, carried by a texture that is both creamy and silky, prolonging the buttery notes perceived on the nose. Flavors of white peach and apricot blend with nuances of brioche. The lively finish reveals a saline and minty touch, typical of the Côte des Blancs.

The vibrancy and richness of a vintage Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne

The estate

Family-owned, the Champagne Franck Bonville House traces its origins back to 1900, when Alfred Bonville, a visionary, acquired parcels just a few years after the devastation of phylloxera in the Champagne vineyards.

The house saw significant growth after 1945 thanks to Franck Bonville, who expanded the vineyard and began marketing the first cuvées under his name.

In the third generation, Gilles Bonville and his wife began modernizing the winemaking tools in 1970. After joining his parents in 1996, Olivier Bonville has paid increasing attention to managing the vineyard with respect for the environment.

The vineyard

This Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru by Franck Bonville comes from a rigorous selection of grapes from the vineyards of Avize, an emblematic terroir of Champagne.

The vintage

A rainy winter and spring gave way to a cool spring that slowed the vegetative cycle. The late-summer warmth was ideal for refining the ripeness of the berries.

Winemaking and aging

This 2016 vintage champagne undergoes alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by 6 years of aging on lees. Its dosage is 2.5 g/L.

Blend

This Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru 2016 by Franck Bonville is 100% Chardonnay.
