Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Blanc de Blancs Brut 2016 Alfred Gratien
Tasting
Color
This wine offers a luminous and elegant presentation, revealing a brilliant yellow hue with delicate green highlights. The effervescence is particularly slow and steady.
Nose
Wonderfully fresh and beautifully complex, the bouquet first reveals aromas of candied fruit, almond, and vanilla, subtly underscored by a light smoky touch. With aeration, indulgent notes of Savoy sponge cake, fresh cream, pineapple, ginger, and spice come through to enrich the whole.
Palate
The palate opens with a dense, saline, and caressing texture, carried by a fine, delicate bubble. The balance is perfect, offering a creamy profile supported by a gentle acidity and a subtle dosage. Flavors of caramelized pineapple unfold into an elegant, persistent finish lasting more than fifteen seconds, closing on a pleasant chalky sensation.
Food and Wine Pairing
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with dishes offering a generous, melting, or creamy texture. It will beautifully complement seafood such as scallops or langoustines, noble fish like sole, as well as white meats, Bresse poultry, or quenelles.
Serving and Cellaring
To fully enjoy this Blanc de Blancs Brut 2016, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 10°C, ideally in a tulip-shaped flute glass.
Other Characteristics
This wine has a dosage of 8 g/L and an alcohol content of 12.5%.
A Grand Cru Champagne of Great Purity by Alfred Gratien
The Estate
Founded in 1864 in Épernay, at the heart of Champagne, the Alfred Gratien house is a medium-sized estate renowned for its artisanal and traditional approach. Now owned by the Henkell Freixenet group, this prestigious brand is committed to ensuring impeccable quality. Winemaking is entrusted to the Jaeger family, who have been passing down this expertise for more than 160 years, thus perpetuating the unique identity and excellence of this historic estate.
The Vineyard
The grapes used for this cuvée come exclusively from Grand Cru-classified terroirs within the Champagne vineyards, guaranteeing an optimal and prestigious expression.
Winemaking and Aging
The production of the Blanc de Blancs Brut 2016 is based on a rigorous selection of grapes. Vinification takes place entirely in oak, in small 228-liter oak barrels. To preserve the full purity of the fruit and the authentic expression of the terroir, malolactic fermentation is systematically blocked. Finally, the wine benefits from an extended aging period of seven years before release.
Grape Variety
This cuvée is made from 100% Chardonnay.
