Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for Rosso dei Notri 2022 Tua Rita
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a vibrant ruby red hue, adorned with subtle violet reflections.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with a lovely purity of primary fruit, exuding concentrated aromas of blackberry and fresh plum. These are interwoven with mineral notes of chalk and smoke, enhanced by nuances of fresh mint, bay leaf and fine spices.
Palate
Juicy and remarkably precise, the palate offers a medium body supported by silky, supple and well-integrated tannins. The acidity brings a lovely tension that perfectly balances the richness of the fruit. The pleasantly long finish stands out with a saline, crisp and mineral structure.
Food and wine pairing
This Italian red wine pairs wonderfully with grilled meats, game dishes, sausages or pasta with a meat sauce. It also goes very well with medium-aged cheeses, as well as Mediterranean recipes with fresh herbs or roasted meaty fish.
The fruity brilliance and minerality of a red wine from Tuscany
The estate
Founded in 1984 by Rita Tua and Virgilio Bisti, the Tua Rita estate is located in Suvereto, in the Upper Maremma region of Tuscany. Initially modest, with just two hectares, the estate now spans nearly 60 hectares of vines. A pioneer of the "garage wine" movement in Italy, the estate has established itself worldwide through its exacting quality standards and rigorous selection. Today, Tua Rita's future is in the hands of Simena Bisti, her husband Stefano Frascolla, and their son Giovanni, who continue to uphold the identity of this unique terroir.
The vineyard
Nestled between 100 and 300 metres in altitude in the Val di Cornia, between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the metalliferous hills, this terroir in Tuscany enjoys a distinctive geographical setting. The young vines, grown according to organic farming principles, flourish on volcanic soils composed of silt, clay and sand. This red and pink earth, rich in minerals such as iron and zinc, combined with the influence of sea winds, gives the grapes a singular mineral and saline character.
The vintage
This year, the harvest was carried out early, beginning around ten days before the estate's main harvest. This early selection helps preserve the freshness and approachability of the berries rather than pursuing extreme concentration.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand, followed by meticulous sorting of bunches and then individual berries on a sorting table. For the Rosso dei Notri 2022, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. To preserve the brilliance of the primary fruit and the mineral expression of the terroir, aging takes place exclusively in concrete or stainless steel tanks, deliberately avoiding any oak influence.
Grape varieties
This wine is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc.
