A full-bodied, fruity Chilean fine wine
The estate
Located in the Aconcagua Valley north of Santiago, Chile, Seña is one of South America's iconic fine wines. This exceptional wine was born in 1995 from a collaboration between Eduardo Chadwick, one of the most emblematic ambassadors of Chilean wine, and the American Robert Mondavi, recognised as one of the great pioneers of New World wines.
Now produced exclusively by the Chadwick family, Seña is a refined, elegant and balanced expression of Chile's finest terroirs.
The vineyard
After four years spent searching for the finest terroir, Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi acquired 350 hectares of virgin land in the heart of the magnificent Aconcagua Valley, north of Santiago. Forty hectares are now planted with a mosaic of Bordeaux grape varieties as well as Carmenere, the flagship grape of Chilean wine. The Seña vineyard is farmed according to biodynamic principles.
The wine
2022 is the 28th vintage of Seña.
The vintage
A dry winter encouraged early budburst. Despite particularly low rainfall, which reduced yields, the warm weather ensured gradual, even ripening of the berries. The result is wines that combine concentration and acidity with an intense colour.
Vinification and ageing
Aged for 22 months (85% in French oak barrels, 15% in large oak casks).
Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (60%)
Malbec (25%)
Carmenere (9%)
Petit Verdot (6%).
