The Balance and Richness of a Great Chilean Wine
The Estate
Located in the Aconcagua Valley, north of Santiago in Chile, Seña is an emblematic reference among the great wines of South America. This remarkable wine was born in 1995 from the collaboration between Eduardo Chadwick, a major figure in Chilean wines, and Robert Mondavi, one of the most influential pioneers of the New World wine industry.
Today produced exclusively by the Chadwick family, Seña embodies a refined, elegant, and balanced expression of Chile's most prestigious terroirs.
The Vineyard
After four years of research to identify the ideal terroir, Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi acquired 350 hectares of virgin land in the heart of the Aconcagua Valley. Of these, 40 hectares are planted with a mosaic of Bordeaux grape varieties as well as Carmenère, Chile's emblematic grape variety. The vineyard is cultivated according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture.
The Vintage
Despite winter rainfall being slightly below average, the soils were well nourished. The spring mildness, marked by temperature fluctuations, slowed flowering. The summer, although warmer, saw normal average temperatures thanks to misty mornings, allowing for rapid ripening while preserving acidity and color. Harvest began 7 days earlier due to the heat in March. The picking took place from March 7 to May 11, with yields slightly above average and small berries, ensuring quality and concentration.
Winemaking and Aging
The wine was aged for 18 months, 90% in French oak barrels and 10% in oak casks.
Blend
Cabernet sauvignon (60%), Malbec (19%), Carmenère (15%), and Petit Verdot (6%).
