Mauro Molino decided to found his estate at the beginning of the 1980s in La Morra, an iconic village in Piedmont. Devoted to the cultivation of his vineyard and in a constant search for excellence, Mauro Molino has succeeded in bringing life to truly great Barolos and Barbera d’Alba Superiores, which are reputed worldwide. The Italian wines by Mauro Molino are produced from meticulously demarcated "single vineyards" which transcribe all of the typicity of the terroir from which they were borne.
The estate’s 12 hectares cover exceptional terroirs, with vines that are entirely dedicated to the Nebbiolo and Barbera grape varieties at the heart of The Langhe, in Italy. The outstanding La Radici vineyard is spread across the foot of Château de Burio in the Costigliole commune, an area particularly suited to the production of Barbera d’Asti. The soil is influenced by clay and limestone.
Barbera d’Asti Le Radici embodies a real return to the roots, beauty and uniqueness of the hills of Montferrat, where the grandfather of the estate’s current owner was born.
Winemaking and ageing
After the harvests, which took place at the end of September and the beginning of October, the berries are taken to the cellar to begin the vinification process. The grapes macerate with contact with its skins for ten days. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are carried out in steel vats before the wine is aged in large French oak barrels.
The aromatic bouquet reveals nuances of cherry and red fruit, which harmonise perfectly with spicy and floral touches.
Barbera d’Asti Le Radici 2020 is a wine with an excellent structure and a delightful complexity. Its softness and velvety tannins extend up to the persistent finish.
