The estate
Founded in 1513, the Joseph Mellot estate is a true institution of the Loire Valley. Backed by historic expertise, the estate is renowned for its excellence in the Centre-Loire appellations. Today, the estate is run with passion, upholding family traditions while remaining strongly committed to preserving the environment and its terroirs.
The vineyard
The grapes used for this wine come from plots located in the heart of the Sancerre appellation. This terroir is characterised by soils typical of the region, fostering a pure and mineral expression. The vines benefit from an ideal climate and exposure, allowing optimal ripening of the Pinot Noir berries while preserving their natural freshness.
The vintage
The year 2022 was marked by climatic conditions that allowed the berries to reach optimal ripeness, resulting in a fine concentration of aromas and remarkable richness at harvest.
Winemaking and aging
In keeping with the estate's traditional methods, the winemaking process is carried out with the utmost care to gently extract colour and tannins. The aging process then refines the wine's structure and develops its aromatic complexity, while respecting the identity of the fruit.
