Located 25 kilometres north of Florence, the Frescobaldi - Tenuta di Nipozzano estate benefits from a good exposure and natural protection against the vagaries of the weather thanks to its location in the Arno river valley. The estate's wines, symbolic of the Florentine wine tradition, can be characterised by their exceptional aromatic range, their exceptional length on the palate and their great ageing potential.
The vineyard
Frescobaldi - Tenuta di Nipozzano's 2019 Nipozzano Vecchie Viti is an IGT Toscana wine made from the oldest vines of the Castello Nipozzano, with deep roots.
The wine
This is the wine chosen by the Frescobaldi family to continue the tradition of reserving a private collection for new generations.
The vintage
The cold but sunny winter of 2019 was followed by a cool and rainy spring, which built up good water reserves. The summer season saw varying temperatures, with heat of the day meeting refreshing breezes from the Apennines, giving the grapes ideal ripening conditions. The harvest produced bunches of grapes in perfect health, giving wines with a great acidity and silky tannins, as is characteristic of the region.
Winemaking and ageing
Once the harvest was over, the grapes were destemmed and began the process of spontaneous fermentation in cement vats. After maceration, the wine was aged in oak barrels for 24 months.

Tasting
Colour
La robe est d’une intense couleur rubis. The colour is of an intense ruby red.
Nose
The nose develops floral notes of violets which mingle with fruity scents (morello cherry, plum, blueberry, blackberry). During aeration, the bouquet becomes more complex, with touches of pepper, cinnamon and hazelnut but also with a characteristic balsamic and lightly roasted element.
Palate
Perfectly balanced, the palate reveals velvety tannins as well as a mineral, lasting finish.
