With seven different estates located in iconic areas, Frescobaldi stands out due to its ability to highlight the diverse expressions of the greatest Tuscan terroirs. Each estates has its own history, its own terroir, and is driven by passionate men and women who all share the will to produce fine wines.
The wine
Ripe al Convento 2015 by Frescobaldi - Tenuta Castelgiocondo is made from a south-facing vineyard, located at an altitude of 450 metres. This exceptional Brunello di Montalcino terroir is planted on a soil composed mainly of schist.
The vintage
The winter was marked by heavy rainfall, followed by a dry and sunny spring which favoured the even development of the vineyard. Summer was particularly hot and dry. For many years, the estate has used various practices, working the soil and managing the leaf area, which enabled the vineyard not to suffer from the water stress caused by the heavy heat in the month of July. The rainy spells in the first week of August were beneficial for the development of the crop and the ripening process.
The vinification and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are rigorously sorted both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks with regular pumping over to ensure an optimal extraction. The wine is aged in oak barrels and then in bottles. This Brunello di Montalcino wine is put on the market 6 years after the harvest.
The blend
This Ripe al Convento 2015 from Frescobaldi - Tenuta Castelgiocondo is a 100% Sangiovese.
