Description
The finesse and vivacity of a Savoie red wine
The estate
Founded in 1998 by Michel Grisard as the replanting of the Cevins hillside, the Domaine des Ardoisières is the star of quality revival in the Savoie wine region. Michel Grisard, an authentic biodynamic winegrower, was joined in 2003 by Brice Omont, an agricultural engineer from the Champagne region, in seeing this ambitious project through. Brice Omont has been running the estate since 2010, along with 12 silent partners.
The vineyard
Argile 2020 is an IGP Vin des Allobroges wine that comes from a vineyard on the hillside of Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy and Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte, on schist marl soils and clay-limestone scree. The vines were cultivated on hillsides and face west and south.
Winemaking and ageing
After the harvest, the grapes are sorted by hand and then put into open vats without destemming (the whole harvest), to preserve their quality. Alcoholic fermentation was carried out with indigenous yeasts specific to the terroir of each plot. Devatting and pressing were carried out after two to three weeks of maceration depending on the vintage. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was placed in barrels where was aged for 9 months before being racked and bottled.
