Vinum

A touch too much extract, but well made and with a certain pedigree. Needs some aging.

Decanter

Soft and supple but light. Meaty, red berry notes. Drying finish.

Andreas Larsson

Slightly leafy and herbal aromas with red cherry. High acidity, firm tannin and a moderate finish.

René Gabriel

Bright garnet of medium density, with a fine rim. Delicate, finely spiced bouquet, cherry notes on the fruit, then a slightly dry impression on the second approach. On the palate, a slender body yet with noticeable muscle. As always, more of a food-pairing style.

Le Figaro Vin

The wine is supple and Merlot-driven, with a fresh, well-balanced profile. It performs well. 75% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot.

Description

A silky and balanced Saint-Émilion wine

The estate

Since the 16th century, the crus of the Couvent des Jacobins have enjoyed an excellent reputation. Vinification and ageing

Hand-harvested. Maceration for 20 to 27 days. Aged for 12 months (45 % new barrels and 55 % one-year-old barrels).

Blend
Merlot 90 % and Cabernet Franc 10 %.

Characteristics and tasting advice for the Couvent des Jacobins 2013

Tasting

Nose
Gourmet and fruity, the nose is pleasantly surprising with a woody touch evolving towards toasted notes of vanilla and Zan, contrasting with a slight freshness.

Palate
On the palate, the silky wine with delicate tannins is balanced by aromas of ripe red fruits (candied strawberry, fresh blackcurrant). Then come lovely toasted notes enveloping the dense tannins), thus giving a flattering and racy wine..
