Decanter

Lovely rose petal fragrance on the nose, floral and expressive with some dried herbs, dark bramble fruit and licks of liquorice. Round and sleek at the same time with a gorgeous texture and energy from the start. Chewy but so delicate, a soft grip and cushioning of the juicy, mouthwatering yet cool red berry fruit and really crystalline salty-edged tannins. I love the gentle frame here, so different to 2022 but so pleasurable. There’s density for sure but you just don’t feel any heaviness or overt muscle. Silky, grippy with a salty bite and fresh finish. Almost understated from Troplong – full of juicy acidity and supportive tannins. I feel this will fill out over ageing. Director Aymeric de Gironde said 2025 is: ‘A mix of 2022 intensity and 2023 brightness but more mineral.’ 3.43pH. Overall yield of 27hl/ha. Ageing 50% new oak, 40% foudre, and10% one-year-old barrels with the goal of moving towards more foudre in future.

Intensity and power, deep cassis and bilberry fruit, very much in character of this unusual, singular site, olive pit and wet stones, drawn out and slow crawl through the palate, rooted to its sense of place and an extremely impressive wine. Harvest August 28, earliest ever, until September 25, so almost exactly one months. 70m altitude of difference between the lowest and highest part of the Troplong vineyard. 27hl/ha yield (particularly impacted by the heat of the early August wave). 3.43 pH, Aymeric de Gironde director.

Precision has clearly become one of the hallmarks of Troplong-Mondot. The bouquet confirms it, highlighting floral and fruity nuances, each marked by detail rather than sheer intensity. Slightly creamy on the attack, the wine shows power, finesse and, above all, depth. Its velvety texture underscores elegance, while its tannic structure underlines power. These elements work beautifully together! They complement one another and are perfectly in sync. The wine broadens across the palate, supported by silky tannins perfectly aligned with a structuring acidity that brings brightness and tension. Subtle whispers gently temper the energy and vigor, only enhancing the harmony. What drive! A fresh, savory, incisive and charming wine.
