Description
The elegance and finesse of a great red wine from Pomerol
The estate
Owned by the Moueix family, Château Moulinet is one of the oldest estates in the Pomerol appellation. Thanks to the work accomplished by Nathalie and Marie-José Moueix both in the vineyard and in the cellars, Château Moulinet is today counted among the finest names of the Pomerol appellation.
The vineyard
Overseeing a 22-hectare estate, of which 18 hectares are a single continuous plot, Château Moulinet tends to an exceptional vineyard that ranks among the largest in the Pomerol appellation. The vines are planted on a subsoil of clayey gravel, while the topsoil consists of different types of gravel, with fine gravel and ancient sands. The varietal composition includes Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
Winemaking
Once the grapes are hand-picked, the berries are sorted on a table. Parcel-by-parcel vinification is carried out in a vat room with 14 temperature-controlled vats.
