A Magnificent, Generous and Very Fine Grand Cru from Saint-Émilion

Property of the Comtes Von Neipperg Estates, the magnificent Canon-La-Gaffelière radiates among the most beautiful references of the prestigious Saint-Émilion appellation, on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux region.

Long followed by the well-known consultant winemaker Stéphane Derenoncourt, Château Canon-La-Gaffelière was rewarded for the efforts made on the property with the highly rare and sought-after Premier Grand Cru Classé B classification. 2014 marked the first vintage certified organic.

Home to a rare collection of native clones, a result of rigorous mass selections, the vineyard enjoys an exceptional terroir, characterised by warm and young soils located at the bottom of the slopes of Saint-Émilion, Château Canon-La-Gaffelière has distinguished itself in these past few vintages with the delicate and deep nature of its wines.

Despite the extensive damage to the Château Canon-La-Gaffelière vineyard during the episodes of frost at the end of April, 2017 promises to be a sensational vintage.

With its blend dominated by Merlot (60%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (30%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), the Château Canon-La-Gaffelière 2017 is a real success, in which all the elements come together to form a perfect harmony. With its pure and fresh fruit, the magnificent bouquet reveals delicate crème de cassis and blueberry, followed by fragrances of plum liqueur, along with complex perfumes of sweet spices and empyreumatic notes, reminiscent of summer undergrowth, when the wine is swirled. On the palate, the wine reveals a generous texture, guided by a solid tannic structure, which also displays a silky, fine grain. The incredible finesse of the wine stretches in length to a persistent finish, full of minerality. Freshness, elegance, finesse and depth, the Château Canon-La-Gaffelière 2017 is simply superb.
