Château Canon La Gaffelière 2014

Bordeaux - Saint-Emilion - Red - 13.5° Château Canon La Gaffelière Château Canon La Gaffelière 2014 1216/14
  • Parker : 92
  • J. Robinson : 17

2014 Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classe B

The 2014 yield proved to be lower than usual for Chateau Canon La Gaffelière. However, the certified organic vintage -a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe- carries lovely, fresh aromas with commanding juicy Burlat cherries, plums scent and balsamic hints (exotic, rare wood). The 55% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Franc, and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon blend offers refined tannins: present, tight, yet fine grained. The finish carries freshness and pleasant fruits. Count Stephan von Neipperg and his team presented a clear-cut 2014 Chateau Canon La Gaffelière fitted for keep.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2014 Canon la Gaffeliere has a fruit-driven, powerful bouquet with rounded raspberry, kirsch, mulberry and light honeyed scents that seem pure and seductive. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated red plum and tart cherry fruit. There is a spicy residue on the back palate with fine structure and poise towards the finish. As ever, a well-crafted, quite delicious Canon la Gaffeliere that should age with style. If the 2014 Canon doesn't quite deliver the opulence for you, then this suits the bill.
