Le Clos des Goisses is an enclosed plot of 5.5 hectares and it is one of the oldest of the Champagne Region. It is facing South, and is located on the best hillside of Mareuil-sur-Ay. This enclosed plot constitutes an exceptional and recognizable terroir thanks to its extreme 45° inclination. The cuvée Clos des Goisses 2005 of Philipponnat is faithful to its origin : a unique and recognizable champagne, composed of 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay. it was partially vinified in barrels, then aged for 8 to 10 years in the cellar. It expresses a great aromatic complexity and a beautiful vinosity. This 2005 vintage of Clos des Goisses is particularly strong and intense, influenced by its contrats. Its bright golden robe is crowned by a fine, delicate and aery mousse. On the nose, this champagne is elegant, floral and marked by herbal and linden-tree notes. After a slight airing, more toasted aromas appear as well as cocoa, Virginia tabacco and vanilla aromas. On the palate, the minerality is fully revealed on a beautiful aromatic persistence with toasted and smoked notes. This cuvée is to be kept and will nobly evolve for several decades.
