Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for Louis Roederer Brut Nature Rosé by Philippe Starck 2018
Tasting
Appearance
Beautiful rose-petal hue.
Nose
Initially discreet and precise, the nose exudes notes of citrus (blood orange), tangy red fruits (redcurrant), fresh, sweet flowers (violet) as well as raspberry liqueur.
Palate
Dense and concentrated, the palate combines a firm structure with a crunchy texture, supported by fine tannins, lively freshness, then indulgent aromas of spices and cocoa powder.
The creaminess and refinement of a Brut Nature Rosé Champagne
The estate
The Louis Roederer Champagne House, founded in 1776 in Reims, has remained family-owned and independent. More than two centuries after its creation, it is still in the hands of the same family. Today, Frédéric Rouzaud, representing the seventh generation, runs this house, which embodies the excellence of Champagne wines around the world, with cuvées crafted like works of art.
The vineyard
The Louis Roederer Champagne House owns an exceptional vineyard of nearly 241 hectares, composed exclusively of Grands and Premiers Crus located in the Vallée de la Marne, the Montagne de Reims, and the Côte des Blancs. This vineyard, a true mosaic of terroirs, is divided into 410 plots, reflecting the diversity of the soils of Champagne.
The cuvée
The Brut Nature Rosé by Philippe Starck 2018 cuvée is made exclusively from the “La Rivière” vineyard. It is the result of a collaboration between the renowned designer Philippe Starck and the prestigious Louis Roederer Champagne House.
The vintage
The year 2018 proved exceptionally warm, dry, and generous. After an unusually wet winter and a mild yet stormy spring, the summer was marked by warm, dry, and sunny conditions, even surpassing the records of 2003. These climatic conditions allowed for an abundant harvest on September 2, 2018, with grapes in near-perfect health, yielding elegant and fruity wines.
Winemaking and aging
Winemaking is 20% in oak. This 2018 vintage champagne undergoes no malolactic fermentation.
Grape varieties
This Brut Nature Rosé by Philippe Starck 2018 from Louis Roederer is a blend of Pinot Noir (64%), Pinot Meunier (20%), and Chardonnay (16%).
