Description

Characteristics and tasting tips for the Rosé de Saignée Extra Brut by Leclerc Briant

Tasting

Color
The color stands out for its intensity, revealing a deep cherry pink highlighted by bright ruby reflections.

Nose
The bouquet opens with aromas of bigarreau cherry and sour cherry, alongside wild strawberry and peppery violet notes. With aeration, the nose evolves toward nuances of rose, pomegranate, raspberry, blood orange, and peony.

Palate
On the palate, this Champagne reveals a fruity character, driven by grapefruit-like acidity and red berries. The structure is precise and tactile, delivering a sensation that is both crisp and textured.

Food pairing
The Rosé de Saignée Extra Brut pairs beautifully with dishes such as prosciutto, lamb chops, or a hand-cut beef tartare finished with chives, pine nuts, and a balsamic vinaigrette. It also complements a Schafstomme or a strawberry tiramisu with pink biscuits.

Serving and cellaring
For optimal tasting, serve between 10 and 12°C.

An organic and biodynamic Rosé de Saignée Champagne from the Champagne region

The estate
Located in the heart of the village of Épernay, the house of Champagne Leclerc Briant boasts a rich heritage whose origins date back to the 19th century.

After the death of Pascal Leclerc, who led the family house as the representative of the 5th generation, the estate was taken over in 2012 by Mark Nunnelly and Denise Dupré. This passionate couple from the United States aims to make this house a flagship among the great producers of the Champagne region.

The vineyard
The Rosé de Saignée Extra Brut comes from vines farmed according to organic and biodynamic principles and certified by Demeter. These parcels in the Champagne benefit from an exceptional terroir that enables Pinot Noir to reach optimal expression.

Winemaking and aging
The Rosé de Saignée Extra Brut is produced using the saignée method, with a two-day maceration that makes it possible to extract color and aromas from Pinot Noir. After bottling in July 2018, the Champagne ages for several years on the lees, developing its creamy texture and aromatic depth, before disgorgement in July 2024. This Champagne has a dosage of 3.3 grams per liter of residual sugar.

Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir
