Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Boizel Tours-sur-Marne Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru 2020
Tasting notes
Appearance
Intense golden hue with amber highlights.
Nose
Rich and expressive, the nose unveils enticing aromas of ripe fruit such as juicy pear, mirabelle plum and morello cherry. This fruity backbone blends harmoniously with delectable pastry notes reminiscent of brioche, fresh butter and praline.
Palate
The palate seduces with a structure that is both dense and perfectly contained. The brightness of ripe fruit envelops a lovely mineral, chalky tension. Carried by a tannic framework of great delicacy, this wine lingers on a saline, persistent finish, echoing yellow fruit and brioche.
Food and wine pairings
This great wine pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, such as a chicken breast with morels, or white meats served with a creamy mushroom sauce. It will also be sublime with duck breast in a red berry sauce, pressed cooked cheeses such as an aged Comté, or delicate dishes like pike quenelles or langoustines.
The pure and singular expression of a Champagne grand cru by Maison Boizel
The estate
Founded in 1834 in Épernay by Auguste Boizel and Julie Martin, Maison de Champagne Boizel stands out for its pioneering spirit and strong family roots. Located on the famous Avenue de Champagne, it made its mark on history with the creation of its first brut wines as early as 1872. Now part of the Lanson-BCC group, the estate remains led by the sixth generation, represented by Florent Roques-Boizel, Chairman and CEO, and his brother Lionel, Managing Director. With 7 hectares of estate vineyards and strong partnerships, Boizel crafts cuvées that combine precision, generosity and an authentic expression of terroir.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes exclusively from the terroir of Tours-sur-Marne, a 52-hectare grand cru situated at the crossroads of the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne. Facing south-east, at altitudes ranging from 90 to 180 metres, the vines thrive on clay-limestone soils with a very high proportion of chalk. This singular Champagne terroir gives the grapes optimal ripeness while preserving a lovely mineral tension.
Winemaking and aging
To preserve the fruit's original aromatic brightness and the purity of the terroir, the Tours-sur-Marne Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru 2020 is vinified entirely in stainless steel tanks. The wine then undergoes an extended five-year aging period on the lees, allowing its complexity to develop and its effervescence to integrate perfectly.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir
